‘Why does it have to be so cold?’ A small ball of fur move through the trees in the early morning mists, his thin body shivering from both fear and the chill. She is only a two month old cub of the smaller breeding, his fur in its puppy fluffy a dark burned red and her face is thin from hunger so that she might be mistaken for a misshapen fox wandering alone. A whimper leaves her muzzle as she trips and falls on a pile of pine needles. ‘So cold..’
Struggling she forces her body to stand up but it is a pitiful attempt as she falls back on her snout on the cold earth. Her large ears flatten in despair as his strength seems to be at its limit.
‘Terribly cold...’
She makes another attempt to stand up but her hips collapses underneath her and she falls one last time before laying sprawled on the earth like a broken toy. She whimpers again in her self pity, this puppy abandoned and alone. Misery Two Months Female Red Wolf

A dark form moved through the morning mist. Black fur frosted with white, giving the male timber wolf a rather unique look, seperating himself a little from the rest with his breeding. Quietly, calmly, he padded through the woods, weavint through trees, avoiding roots and fallen branches and rotting logs, moving around large boulders and bushes. It was a lovely morning for Kaskae. And if there was one thing the male enjoyed, it was walking through the woods in the morning. The air was filled with spring birds singing their sweet melodies, still in low volume due to the fact that not all the birds werre up this early. This gentle rustling of underbrush caught his attention from time to time, small creatures moving about the floor of the woods, hiding beneath fallen leaves, beneath roots, and under the ground. Life was in full bloom, new life begining, and old life restoring. And in Kaskae's opinion, there was no season more beautiful than fall, but the sring was the most lively and inpsirational.
As he wandered, he thoguht of his family he had left behind. His mother and father having been the alpha and alphess, Kaskae had been the favored kin of the pack consisting of his mother and father, and eight other wolves, along with usually four to six pups being raised. But as Kaskae had grown older, he found himself longing for new sights and lands. As odd as it might sound, the land he was born on just didn't feel like home to him when he came of age to leave. And leave he did. He had been to other places, but none had satisfied. But now, he had finally found his perfect kingdom. Despite the brewign tension that few seemed to be aware of, Kaskae was more than eager to defend the side of righteouness and light.
As he walked, he tested the air, to smell fear and weakness mingled with a very young wolf's scent. And so, he followed it, muscles rippling beneath his thick fur, his build average for his breeding. Whimpering reached his ears a few times, and soon, he saw a wolf pup fallen upon the earth. Concern arised in his eyes as he moved slowly and gently over to her, He came to stand over her, pale yellow eyes the color of the harvest moon shining kindly and with no ill intent. His voice parted from his jaws, his vocals soft and kind.
" Are you in need of help, young pup?"

In an out of consciousness she wavers. Through blurred vision she can see a dark form coming her way and she wonders if this could be the hand of death coming to claim her in its cold clutches. The dew of the morning seeps into her fur and penetrates through her skin to chill her blood with its numbing reach. The mud from long traveling matts her fur in places and her ribs are clearly visible despite what should be a plush coat. Yet still she forces her dark red eyes open to stare up into pale yellow ones.
Fear runs through her as she makes a sad attempt to stand and run away from the larger wolf, but instead she falls over her paws and lands with a THUMP on her side. Groaning she flails her legs and looks helpless up at the dark wolf, weak as a newborn foal to him. He could easily killer her and some deep buried instinct inside of her knows this.
“I don’t need no help! I’m fine!” But this couldn’t be further from the truth. She struggles to stand but her legs wont work thus she is forced to lie there looking helplessly up at him with large eyes.

It always something of a pity and sorrow when young lives were lost. But that was the harsh reality, the cold way Nature had to go about in order to ensure the survival of the spieces. As the saying goes: Survival of the fittest. It was something that seemed harsh and unfairl but in all reality, it was what had to be. If the weak ones passed on their genetics, then where would any spieces be? On the teetering edge of extinction. And so, that was why Nature had to act as it did. But sometimes, it wasn't just the weak youths that were lost. The strongest of youth were even claimed at times, hardly ever getting a chancec at life. And that was what made Kaskae feel pity and sorrow. when a perfectly fit, perfect strong soul was near the brink of non-existance. And so, it was thne that he would interfere. It was not in his character to leave another behind, to let them suffer further pain and hurt. If nothing could be done, he would see to it their pain and suffering came to an end. But if there was in fact hope, then one could be certain Kaskae would take it upon himself to see what could be done, was in fact done and in action. To let a perfectly good, innocent life fade away into eternal rest was something that Kaskae just couldn't do.
He stood over the female pup. He met her dark red eyes, and saw the fear within them. but his eyes only offered kindness and warmth. It tugged at his heartstrings to see a young one like this. She attemtped to flee, and yet it was futile. She collaped upon her side, looking up into his pale eyes yet again, the helplessness and fear so deeply written that it nearly broke his heart. Her voice was thick with fear, and Kaskae wished hopefully that she would see him as no threat. And so, he lay upon the soft earth, head on paws, his blackened tail swaying to and fro gently as he continued to gaze at her with gentle eyes. He knew that if he tried to move closer to her, it would probably only send her into more distress. And so, he remained where he was, his stance completely and totally calm and gentle. And she seemed like the kind of pup that didn't want to seem like she needed help, despite her terribly weak condition.
" Are you sure, dear? I promise I won't hurt you..."
Again, he fell silent, awaiting for whatever the distressed pup would do or say.

The last thing she remembers is her mother dropping her off in this quiet wooded area. She had never seen mother looking so scared. The female wolf had stared down at her with loving affection, giving her a nudge on the muzzle before suddenly turning to look behind her in terror and taking off running as she had been doing for hours, leaving the puppy alone in this strange new world. Misery dully recalls something big had been chasing them, something that reeked of death and had eyes that glowed like embers in a blazing fire, something so terrible it had not name. Every time she tries to think of that monster she finder herself shrinking away from the memory as if it might come back to attack her again. Had her mother saved her by leaving her hear and drawing the beast away? Tears prick her dark crimson eyes as she thinks of being left here in this strange place with no family or friends to speak to.
‘Why do bad things happen?’
Surprise fills her large eyes as she watches the older wolf lay down open on the earth and wag his tail her. Her small whip of a tail manages to mirror the wagging motion as she stares at the male wolf. Some how she finds she is not afraid of this seemingly giant wolf(so far she has only seen members of her much smaller red wolf breeding) perhaps it is the kindness in his eyes or the way he has not made to attack her. In her young ignorance she drops all barriers of caution or self-preservation and lets out a small giggle. It is funny to see the big wolf laying down and looking at her like this!
“Your funny.” She wiggles in the dirt and manages to snuggle underneath his chin, seeking the warmth in his fur. “Well maybe a little help...” Misery sighs, feeling as if she could sleep forever beside this male even though she has no idea who he is or where he comes from.

Kaskae was Alaskan. And in that laguage, it meant "cheif". he had leadership qualities about him. If ever he found himself in the place of Alpha Male, he would be the sort to rule with a kindness, though still he would hold firm and strong, doing what he must to keep his pack safe and well fed. He didn't believe that ruling by fear and pain was the righteous way to gain the loyalty and love of the pack. Some packs were, in fact, built upon fear, intimidation, blood, hunger, and pain. And it was always a mystery to Kaskae why those alpha wolves even had any followers. Perhaps it was because the darkness in Fragile Silence, and throughout the rest of world, was growing in steady numbers, The path od darkness was gaining more and more followers, beings that were willing to carry out the unjust, bloody acts it required of others. It was disgusting to Kaskae to watch as innocent youth were carelessly, heartlessly, brutally, and ruthlessly murdered as they stalked about the world. It was enough to make the fur along his spine to tingle and prickle, sending a shiver and tingling sensation all throughout his form. He was the defender of innocent lives whe no one else would do so. Fight against the odds to ensure thaty any with innocence was defended when they could not do so for themsevles or their families.
He knew nothing when it came to relating toward others who had been abandoned or left behind by their families. His parents had raised him, showered him in affection, yet always corrected him when he had done this wrong. But never were they cold or mean to him. His pack had been a true family, looking out for one another. And when his mother and father had another litter, he had helped raise his younger siblings. But like most male wolves, he sought more than just a life with his family. He sought after a family of his own. And he already had his beloved mate, Autumnria, along with a beautiful land, Freedom Valley. And he hoped that one day, he and Autumnria would be blessed with a beautiful litter of pups. He dearly wanted a family of his own, and yet he was patient, and would wait until his dearly beloved was ready to start one with him. he was never the sort to be foreceful. Ever.
He smiled as he heard the small pup before him let a giggle ring between them. She was a sweet little thing. And judging by her pelt color and size, Kaskae could tell she was of the red wolf heritage. And yet, he couldn't help but wonder why her mother woul dhav eleft here here. This place, it was dangerous. There was a scent of a very massive, aggressive male that was fairly recent. And this brought forth a weariness within Kaskae, but he kept it hidden from the small little she-pup. He didn't wish to bring fear back into her. He smiles tenderly as she wiggles toward him and under hsi chin. He nuzzles her gently, hoping to offer more warmth. He hears her voice, and her small sigh. She was such a precious thing. He felt a love for her growing steadily within himself, along with the want to father her, protect her, and teach her.
" So, do you have a name, dear?"

Misery. It means “wretchedness of condition or circumstances.”. So aptly named is she, since she was born a whole two months ago her life had been nothing but pain, living on the run and her blissful ignorance penetrated by fear and constant hunger. While most pups have to worry about when their next nap is she and her dam were constantly on the run, from what the young red ball of fluff does not know. All she knows is this feeling of warmth is one she wants to live in forever, to keep this feeling of safety beside the large wolf like a blanket to her soul. Her deep red eyes blink and look up with him with glittering wonder in their debts, he seems so big and strong to her.
The day dawns a beautiful one. The mist that haunts through the trees of the wood seems so shockingly cold, it damps her fur with its wet fingers yet the slants of sunlight that penetrate the canopy warm her almost as much as being so near to this fatherly wolf. The scent of pine trees clings in the air as birds above begin to sir in their high nests, the smell of those wolf avens stirs a primal hunger with in the pup and she hears her empty belly rumble for want of meat. Her milk teeth had almost all shed out to be replaced by less sharp but noticeably strong meat tearing teeth. Her large ears move like satellites on her fuzzy head as a bug flies nearby her and she snaps out at it. Nothing.
As the male speaks she looks back up at him in child-like awe.
“Momma always said I was nothin’ but misery, so I guess you can call me Misery.” She says then watches as that taunting bug buzzs by her head once more.
(Hehe Misery has the attention span of a gnat.)

Following her mate's scent she came to a clearing, spotting him, but just before she was about to break through the greenery she heard him talking. She sat on her haunches to support her growing belly and waited. Finally she heard another voice reply, a pup's and her audets perked. She listened carefully, trying to pick up the story line of the conversation, and she finally emerged. She did not want to seem threatening so she spoke with her calming harmonious voice, and changed her posture.
Kaskae, sorry for interrupting, i was just curious about the pup you mentioned.
She looked at the pup with her blue pools and smiled gently, a soft expression on her face. And you must be whom he was talking about, dear one. I am Autumnrai, and you are Misery as ive heard?

Kaske knew not why his parents had given him this name. Did his father expect Kaskae, being the eldest son he had, to stick around and take the alpha position when he passed on? Perhaps his mother had named him after his grandfather he never knew? Why he was named Kaskae was a mystery to the wolf. But it was his name, and so he accepted it as such. He would never change his name for the world. it was the only thing he had left of his parents. And so, he cherished it. It was unfortunate that others weren'y really satisfied with the names they had been given. But Kaskae believed there was a reason for everything that happened in one's life. And so, he always paid close attention to things that happened in his own life, leaving the life of others alone.
The world around them was indeed beautiful. But his gaze never tore away from the beautiful little angel that nestled near him, soaking up the warmth he had to offer, along with the sunlight that broke through the cold mist. He watched her tenderly, smiling down at her. She was alone in the world. But Kaskae wanted to change that. He listened to the small pup's words, and bot pity and sorrow struck his heart. To have such a name, and perhaps not know her own, was something that tugged at Kaskae's heartstrings. But all the pain in her life happened for a reason. And so, maybe Misery did suite her...
" Alright, Misery it is then."
He paused, the scent of his mate greeting him. And soon, his eyes rested upon her black form. Concern shoen in his eyes. She was heavily pregnant, and it wasn't the best idea for her to be wandering about in such dangerous territory. He nodded when he heard her sweet words. He smiled and looked down at the pup after his mate had spoken.
" Misery, would you like to come and live with me and Autumnria? You'll soon have playmates, and I'm sure you'll love Freedom Valley. You'll be safe and well fed there."
And so, he waited patiently for her reply.

When another wolf approaches them Misery sinks down close to the ground with large ears pressed to the side of her head in fear. This breed of wolf seems to large and strange to her, yet they do not seem to be mean ro cruel. His dark crimson eyes glitter as the adult female speaks, slowly the pup shakes the fear off and sits up between the mal’s paws to look at the new wolf who had started talking to Misery. The pups small black nose wiggles as she breaths deep the scent and body logs it away within the dark recesses of her memory, forever to be recognized from now on.
“Autumnrai.” She says the name then wags her tail. “I like that name, Miss Autumnrai. It sounds prettyful. Yes mam, I go by that name.”
Her head turns to look up at Kaske as he speaks them. She has never known a father figure or a proper mother in her life so the opportunity to have a loving family is almost like a dream come true. The wind in her fur seems to be somehow less cold then before, the sun seems to shine a little brighter, and the world seems less like a tragic pit of despair then hours before when she was walking alone through the chilling darkness.
“That would make me very happy, sir Kaske.” She says with a little yip of delight and her small tail swinging to her sides. In her excitement she stands up only to fall on her side, dizzy from exhaustion.
“But I don’t think I can walk any further.”

Kaskae watched Misery with tender affection. She was such a sweetheart. It was a shame to think her mother hadn't been able to give her the home and love she deserved. But as previously stated, Kaskae believed everything happened for a reason. And Misery being left here, alone to fend for herself, wrapped in fear and ebbing energy, had been because of destiny's grand design. She was meant to be here. And the sheer luck that Kaskae had found her before a cold-blooded killer did was something of a miracle. The scent of darkess and blood had been mild and fading, but that offered no comfort to him. He knew that there were more beings of the darkness around these days, and to have found her still alive was greatly against the odds. Usually, they always seemed to pick up on the smell of other's weaknesses and fears, and it would seem like a large certainty that one of the killers would have found her with great ease, taking advantage of an easy kill. And so, kaskae took this as a sign, as part of his fate intertwined with Misery's.
Her small voice came to his hearing as she spoke to Autumnria. Yes, indeed his mate's name was beautiful. Kaskae's was more so masculine and with a meaning behind it. But everyone's name set them apart from others like that. That was the purpose of a name, after all. He felt her small tail thump gently against his forelegs as he lay there, looking up at Autumnria, then back to Misery. And when she yipped, and attempted to move away, she stumbled and fell once more. His eyes shone with concern. She had really lost a lot of energy... The first thing he would do when they returned to Freedom Valley was to go hunting andfind food for his mate and Misery, his adopted daughter. So, he got to his paws, and spoke with soft, reassuring words.
" That's alright, Misery. I'll carry you there."
He bent down, and tenderly, ever so gently, he picked her up by the gruff of her nape, making sure he didn't hurt her, and nodding to his mate, he began to walk toward Freedom Valley.
((Kyda, you can post Misery once more here, and i'll start a thread in Freedom Valley for all three again. ^^))

Autumn smiled softly at Misery. She was to become a mother a lot sooner then she expected by adopting her, but she was willing to ensure Misery's survival. She was ever so grateful that her mate had found her when he had. She nuzzled Misery before Kaskae picked her up, her words echoing through her mind. I like that name Miss Autumnrai. It sounds prettyful. She was such a bundle of purity and innocence, how could her mother possibly think she was misery?
Misery, my dear, you no longer have anything to fear. You do not have to be afraid of the cold, for you will remain nestled in our warmth. You no longer have to fear about no knowing where you'll sleep for you will be sleeping next to our bodies. You no longer have to fear of hunger, for you will always have food in your belly. Welcome to our family.
Smiled nuzzled her once more, and then her mate as her blue pools rested upon him. She licked his maw and nodded, letting him lead the way.48
